Wild California Salvia

Common name: White Sage / California Sage
Scientific name: Salvia apiana
Spanish name: Salvia
Kumeyaay name: Pellytaay / Pestaay
Canadian: Buffalo Sage

This wild-growing California salvia, white sage, is photographed from the perspective how most people will look down and find natural salvia sage growing in Southern California. This natural-growing salvia looks a little small, thirsty and distressed compared to salvia growing in more ideal conditions.... I recall this area burned in recent wildfires, see the charred stems in the recovering ecosystem.

Salvia is a very common indigenous plant in Southern California and northern Baja California, Mexico...

Note: "Salvia" is Spanish for sage.
